The Right Side Of History

For thousands of years, people have had opinions and strong convictions about current events in their world.  From the leaders at the tower of Babel deciding they could reach heaven; to the Egyptian king waffling between letting the Hebrews go from slavery; to Nero believing the Christians should be sacrificed; to Queen Isabella believing in Columbus; to the British believing the people in the new Americas wouldn’t fight for freedom at the Boston Tea Party; to Abraham Lincoln believing slavery was an atrocity.

Some of those people were on the wrong side of history.  Most likely, they couldn’t see it at the time.  Their own ideas and purposes clouded their judgement and they fell on the wrong side of what most people would agree in hindsight was actually right.

In our time, we are no different.  The issues that plague us are divisive, disrupting, potentially life changing.  Every person has to examine what they believe about those issues which history will judge.  Abortion is one of those topics.  I applaud people who have strong convictions and stand by them.  However, I am opposed to people categorically deciding that someone else doesn’t have a right to their own opinion.

One of our most treasured rights in the United States of America is the right to free speech.  You might not know it if you look at the media today and at those who would try to stop us from exercising that right.  We must allow for fair, open discussions instead of oppressive actions by those who wish to silence that free speech.

Unfortunately, that’s how wars get started.  Free exchange of ideas has to occur in order to prevent such drastic events.  This country is in a major turmoil and we will most likely come to a point where we will make the decisions which will shape our future and paint history for us.

Will you be on the right side of history?  WIll you be on the wrong side?  Martin Luther King Jr. lost his life standing up for his very strong beliefs.  But looking back at the devisive issue of his time, racial equality, we find he was on the right side of history, not the wrong side.  Time will cause the abortion issue to be resolved one way or another.

The future of our country will be judged by its decisions.  Just like in the Civil War where people died fighting about the issue of slavery, we could end up in such a mortal conflict regarding the abortion issue.  I pray that never happens, but the fight is real and something has to give.  Will we end up on the right side of history?

There has been so much in the news lately about decisions being made in various states regarding abortion.  Some new laws are so disturbing, many of us are astonished at the level of atrocity.  It can feel like an emotional roller coaster every day.  The different factions are polarizing in an even greater way than before.  I have no doubt that abortion will be the most critical issue of the 2020 election.

During the Civil War, people had to decide which side of the slavery issue they were on.  Our time is no different.  People must decide because a social war is continuing to brew.  Obviously, Petition Ministries is on the side of life.  We don’t pretend to be anything else.  We don’t like it that people decide for abortion being okay, but we recognize the right of every individual to have their own opinion.  That doesn’t mean we won’t fight for life, though.

In my years ministering to post-abortive people in the midst of pain, guilt, shame and debilitating traumatic responses, I have decided to fight for life.  The devastation I witnessed as I counselled those who came to regret an abortion decision was real and heart wrenching.  They desperately needed abortion healing.  After what I experienced attempting to help them, I can’t go the other way on the abortion issue.

In my own heart, I’ve decided that I believe a human life is growing in a woman’s body.  It isn’t her body – it’s the body of another.  Her body will recover after giving birth.  Maternal death in childbirth is more rare than it ever has been.  In an abortion, the baby’s body doesn’t have that possibility of recovery.  It’s a permanent solution to a temporary problem!  It’s an issue of whose right supercedes the other.

Many of the wars and fights this world has engaged in have been over someone’s rights.  The aboriton issue is no different.  So, as we stand on the precipice of world altering decisions, my hope is that each person will examine their own heart with a view to how history will judge them.  I don’t know about you, but I want to find myself on the right side of history.

Fingerprint Evidence

Everyone knows we each have unique fingerprints.  Every tiny baby in the womb begins to develop them as early as the second or third month and they are fully developed by six months in utero.  How they are formed is a fascinating study on its own.

(for more information, visit this link. https://healthfully.com/287440-the-development-of-fingerprints-in-babies.html)

  Fingerprint Evidence

God, in His loving care for His creation made each one of us completely special.  Every minute detail of our incredible bodies reflects His love, vast knowledge and intimate concern for His family.

Psalm 139:13-16 gives us a beautiful picture of this incredible process.

       13 “For You formed my inward parts;

            You wove me in my mother’s womb.

       14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and  wonderfully made;

            Wonderful are Your works,

            And my soul knows it very well.

       15 My frame was not hidden from You,

            When I was made in secret,

            And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;

       16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;

            And in Your book were all written

            The days that were ordained for me,

            When as yet there was not one of them.”

The subject of fingerprints does not end with the unique pattern evident in each individual person.  It also extends into the realm of physical evidence.  When police want to gather clues to a crime, they look for fingerprint evidence to catch the crook.

When it comes to the issue of abortion, we recognize the importance of the value of human life as we look at the fingerprint evidence each child carries.  But there is another type of fingerprint regarding the pain and wounding of those who have come to regret their abortion.

Everyone who has suffered an abortion, whether by choice or by force, carries an unusual fingerprint called SHAME, even if they are unaware of its existence.  Shame can be so debilitating that life is often full of despair, fear and anxiety.

So, as we seek to investigate where that shame comes from, to solve the riddle, we have to look at the fingerprint evidence.  Look no further than the first book of the Bible.  Genesis 2 & 3 gives us the first glimpse of where shame originated.

First, let’s look at Genesis 2.  It reveals the condition Adam & Eve had before they ate from the forbidden tree.

Genesis 2:24 & 25  “For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.”

You see that there was no shame.  But something happened after they were deceived by the devil.  Look at Genesis 3

Genesis 3: 10 & 11  “He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?””

Fear and hiding from the One with whom they had intimate daily fellowship was the first incident of shame.  Disobedience to a Holy, pure God created the condition for the devil’s fingerprint to appear.  Whenever it appears, you can be certain the evil culprit has been around, messing with God’s beautiful creation.

Abortion itself defies the initial and stated purpose God designed us for.  He set mankind over His creation on earth and told them to multiply.

Genesis 1:27 & 28  “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.””

People who have participated in abortion and made a decision in crisis, whether they intended to or not, have violated God’s righteous purpose.  That condition results in the devil getting the upper hand and his messy disgusting fingerprints of shame show up.

So, how do we deal with this shame the enemy foists upon us when we go against God’s design and desire?  First, we must admit that our actions have caused us to sin against God.  It’s really hard for many post-abortive women, especially, to do that.  Why, because shame wants to keep everything a secret!

Fear of being rejected or hated is usually the first indicator that shame has touched you.  Remember, that’s what caused Adam & Eve to hide.  The Word says they were afraid, so they hid.  Shame is like a heavy, stinky wet blanket covering up the ugliness of sin beneath it.

Once a person seeks to hide from a loving, forgiving God, that awful blanket of shame can become impossible to get out from under.  But once you come to understand the grace God offers anyone who repents, the devil’s fingerprints are erased and shame is lifted.

Because of Jesus Christ and His perfect sacrifice for sin, a person who comes to Him for mercy and grace is forgiven completely.  His blood washes away the stain of sin and wipes away the devil’s fingerprints.  That is good news to those who suffer shame because of an abortion.

The important thing to remember is that the sin doesn’t look any different to God whether it’s the worst sin imaginable or a little white lie.  He forgives any sin repented of.  There are different consequences, and that’s another subject for another day.

The Apostle Paul gave us a glimpse of the principle of eliminating shame and removing the hidden aspect of it in 2 Corinthians 4:1 & 2

“Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not lose heart, but we have renounced the things hidden because of shame, not walking in craftiness or adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.”

At the tender point of receiving forgiveness from God, shame can’t stay your covering for very long.  If you are covered by the blood of Jesus, shame must go!  Knowing the truth here is what sets you free. (John 8:32)

If you are suffering from the filthy fingerprint evidence of the devil’s shame, I encourage you to renounce it today and truly receive the forgiveness and grace the Lord wants you to live in.  Take a look at your fingerprints right now.  See the intricate beauty of what God did to make you a unique, unrepeatable creation.

Let go of the blanket of shame forever and never look back.  If you’re tempted to feel that shame again, recognize it as the fingerprint evidence of a defeated enemy. Hold your hands up to the Lord and thank Him for your unique signature and let the evidence of the truth be your banner instead.

Aborted Babies Born Alive

I recently read an article about 766 babies who were born alive after failed abortions, and were left to die.   The thought so stunned me, I just stared at the title of the piece.  I couldn’t even put words to my feelings for quite some time.  The figures were cumPreborn Baby in Uteroulative over several years, but the facts had no less impact on my soul.

The loss of life from abortion in our world is devastating and such a travesty, that we must do something about it.  Lots of people are doing many different things to diminish the practice and I applaud their efforts.  But few are doing anything to honor those precious lives lost.

Petition Ministries has a mandate is to grant the dignity of a name to them all.  It’s an impossible task on the surface, but I believe in the power of God and the hearts of those who break because of the loss.  The people left behind after abortion’s horrific practice are the ones we want to help in reality.  We can’t do much about those lives cut off.  But we can do something.

We ask people to chose a name for a baby who they know was lost due to abortion.  It doesn’t have to be a child they had anything to do with either, or it could be from a parent who has come to regret their own decision made in crisis.  Anyone can chose to symbolically “adopt” a lost one to give the honor of a name.  Click here to read our information called “Why Should We Name Them.”

When I reflected on the article some more, I felt compelled to open up a special petition drive online to see if we can collect 766 names for those children who had no voice.  I don’t know about you, but even the imagined whimpers from their silent cries drill into my heart and leave a gaping wound.

Naming a baby for the scroll is such an easy process and we’ve made it simple for anyone who wants to participate.  Our online form, when filled out, gives us the information to post those babies names on our online petition scroll.  This scroll gives reality to the lost lives and helps all of us to begin our healing.

766 Babies left to die

We call our petition drive “Every Name Counts” because typically a petition can’t be filed without enough names.  In our case, we don’t have an arbitrary number.  Our filing goes to the Lord in the form of prayers and petitions from intercessors who volunteer to pray for the issue of abortion in our nation.

Just because the lives lost in Canada are not from the US, doesn’t mean we can’t acknowledge them.  Won’t you join me today in choosing a name for one of the 766 babies who were born alive after failed abortion and left to die.  It’s completely free to register and we will even send you a free PDF Certificate of Dignity if you would like one.  Click here to register to give one of these lost babies the dignity of a name.
