Sweep It Under The Rug

Perhaps you’ve noticed that there have been way too many instances of censorship of conservatives recently.  Websites, Twitter accounts, YouTubers, Reddit, Trello users and lots of others are systematically being silenced by far left companies bound and determined to keep their political narratives going.  This is especially flagrant in view of the upcoming election.

While we don’t try to engage specifically in political arguments or activities, we still have a responsibility to get our message out to those who are hurting.  So, our conservative voice is important.  We can’t advise anyone on which candidates to vote for, but we can advise people to VOTE!

The recent debacle of the Justice Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings brings up the need for a call to action.  The ridiculous circus surrounding his confirmation clearly indicated there is a problem in this country.  As a ministry devoted to helping women and men heal from abortion, we are very aware of the issues facing modern society regarding sexual sins.  We are also staunchly in favor of the rule of law and of fairness.

After the confirmation of another conservative Justice of the Supreme Court, we are thrilled that sanity and legal conservatism have gained ground.  With this in mind, I want to bring our attention back around to the censorship that has been getting worse, especially the nearer we get to the mid-term election.

Voting in this country is one of the most sacred duties we have as citizens of a free nation.  We want to make sure you feel the call to action to get out and vote.  People on the right need to make their voices heard instead of staying silent.  In this political frenzy we find ourselves in, silence isn’t golden, it’s deadly.

When the voices of conservative platforms are silenced through censorship, everyone suffers.  Fairness and good political discourse requires that both sides of issues are discussed.  By stopping the free exchange of ideas, our country suffers.

One of the most glaring instances of censorship came to my attention today.  There are some strange things happening regarding the recent movie about Kermit Gosnell, the abortion doctor who was convicted of murder and many other crimes.  The movie has apparently done extremely well in theaters, but has now been dropped considerably in theaters all over the country.

There could be many reasons for this, but some of the unusual stories being circulated caused its creators to question if they are being censored.  Below is a link to the article which brought this to my attention.

The point I want to make, however, has more to do with the way we humans tend to deal with things which make us uncomfortable.  The issue of abortion is very obviously one of those things.  It seems easier to try to sweep it under the rug rather than have genuine dialogue.

Additionally, women who have had abortions and have come to regret them, often feel so much shame and fear that speaking of the subject is nearly impossible.  Our job at Petition Ministries is to help give a voice to those suffering this debilitating state.

By coming at the problem with the grace of Jesus Christ to forgive, we make a way to embrace those who need to deal with, very often, deeply buried pain.  We don’t ever condemn anyone who made a decision in crisis.  We refuse to silence them or censor their speech.

In our current society, the issue of abortion is taking front and center stage.  Those on the far left saw the confirmation of Justice Kavanaugh as a potential threat to their sacred cow of abortion.  He may or may not be that.  But their reactions came in the form of radical and outlandish stunts and accusations.

The Gosnell movie may have opened some eyes and created a stir which some businesses were unprepared to deal with.  The silencing of the conservative truth seeking independent journalists on social media platforms seems to indicate that those opposed to free speech are indeed intent on silencing their opposition.

As we approach election day, I hope you will all keep these things in mind as you go to the poles.  Our country needs your voice, no matter which side of the political spectrum you are on.  Please take this to heart and VOTE so no one can take your voice and sweep it under the rug.

Always in Jesus,
